Efficient Scattering Calculations in Complex Backgrounds
نویسنده
چکیده
The utilization of the Green’s tensor associated with a complex optical background (surface, cavity or stratified medium) leads to a dramatic reduction of the computation effort associated with scattering calculations in that background. This approach is illustrated with examples where a mere change of the background Green’s tensor makes possible the investigation of completely different physical situations. Two different discretization approaches are compared and similarities between the Green’s tensor technique and the Method of Lines are emphasized; in the latter, the utilization of analytic solutions in one specific direction also reduces the discretization of the system.

Pseudotime Schrödinger equation with absorbing potential for quantum scattering calculations.
The Schrödinger equation (Hpsi) (r) = [E+u(E)W(r)]psi(r) with an energy-dependent complex absorbing potential -u(E)W(r), associated with a scattering system, can be reduced for a special choice of u(E) to a harmonic inversion problem of a discrete pseudotime correlation function y(t) = phi(T)U(t)phi. An efficient formula for Green's function matrix elements is also derived. Since the exact prop...

We present a computationally efficient and accurate adjoint method for calculating coupled sensitivities of complex frequency-domain excitation and emission fluence to any underlying optical parameters in highly scattering media. The method is shown to be general and accurate. Novel vectorized implementations for finite element global matrix assembly and adjoint sensitivity calculations are sho...
متن کاملUnitarity Cuts: NLO Six-Gluon Amplitudes in QCD
The availbility of theoretical results required to control multi-leg scattering beyond the leading order (LO) certainly does not cover the demand for describing the landscape of multi-particle final-state processes and backgrounds that will be delineated at the turn-on of the next generation colliders. Great efforts over the past 10 years have been made to push the status of theoretical results...
متن کاملA STUDY OF GAMMA RAY EXPOSURE BUILDUP FACTORS IN STRATIFIED SHIELDS FOR POINT ISOTROPIC SOURCES, INCLUDING THE EFFECTS OF INCOHERENT AND COHERENT SCATTERING
The effects of including incoherent (bound-electron) and coherent (Rayleigh) scattering in exposure buildup factor calculations for point isotropic gamma ray sources, penetrating a two-layer water-lead shield have been investigated in the gamma ray energy (E?) range of 40 keV to 3 MeV. Incoherent scattering decreases the values of these factors in both layers up to E? ~ 200 keV and the effect i...

In this paper, the interaction between an oscillating dipole moment and a Silver nanoparticle has been studied. Our calculations are based on Mie scattering theory and discrete dipole approximation(DDA) method. At first, the resonance frequency due to excitingthe localized surface plasmons has been obtained using Mie scattering theory and then by exciting a dipole moment in theclose proximity of...
